The RAK Hospital’s weight-loss competition in Ras Al Khaimah has attracted over 4,000 participants and offers the possibility to win large cash prizes.
The initiative, which is in its second year, emphasises adopting better lives to reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes. The three-month project, which started on August 14 and is sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Prevention in Ras Al Khaimah, aims to help people whose blood sugar levels show signs of pre-diabetes or diabetes.
Exercise and nutritional adjustments that significantly improve indicators are eligible for prizes totaling AED20,000, with AED5,000 awarded as the top prize in each category.
Through individualised counselling and better lifestyle choices, the initiative seeks to reverse the rising trend in Type 2 diabetes incidence.
