Get ready for summer!
According to the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology, summer officially starts on June 21, coinciding with the summer solstice. This means the country will experience the longest day of the year as the sun’s rays directly hit the Tropic of Cancer.
In June, temperatures will rise by approximately 2°C to 3°C compared to May. The Siberian high pressure system weakens and retreats, making way for thermal lows and the extension of the Indian monsoon depression. Clouds may develop over some areas, leading to possible rainy afternoons, especially over eastern mountains.
Humidity will slightly decrease, particularly in the second half of the month. Expect temperatures ranging from 33°C to 35.7°C, with maximums between 39.7°C and 42.7°C, and minimums between 26.6°C and 29.2°C.
Keep in mind that the highest recorded temperature in June was 52.0°C back in 2010, while the lowest minimum temperature fell to 14.1°C in 2004. The mean wind speed will be around 13 km/h, with the highest winds of 125.2 km/h recorded in 2010.
The average maximum relative humidity will range between 62% and 87%, while the minimum relative humidity is between 14% and 27%. Fog formations were highest in June 2021, with 12 occasions of fog and six misty days.
Rainfall during this month reached its highest amount of 44mm in Owtaid in 2007.
Stay cool and enjoy the summer vibes!
