Tomaso Rodriguez, the CEO of UAE-based food delivery company Talabat, recently spent a day working as a rider to understand the challenges faced by delivery personnel.
Despite being the boss, he disguised himself and received help from fellow riders who were unaware of his true identity. Rodriguez found the experience challenging but rewarding and gained a better understanding of the pain points faced by riders.
He highlighted issues such as phone overheating and parking difficulties, and his team is now working on finding solutions, including UV protecting windshields for bikes and collaborating with authorities to address parking problems.
Talabat is also increasing safety training for drivers and exploring ways to improve the tipping process for riders. Rodriguez plans to repeat this exercise regularly and encourages other employees and management to engage in delivery work to gain insights.
He also emphasized the importance of summer initiatives that prioritize rider safety and comfort, such as providing cooling gear, refreshments, and rest areas.
