Learning through Action: Bonn Lozano, never limit oneself in Working, Learn

“It is the only place (Dubai) I know that change is so fast in terms of growth, innovation, and development.”

Dubai has been a hub for more than 200 nationalities who create their dreams and future. Many investors and people in business are opening their trades in the city because of diverse culture and financial growth. 

One of these business-minded individuals is of Filipino descent, Bonn Lozano, the owner of Shokudo Restaurant. He has been in Dubai for 15 years, continuously growing his business and helping people be part of his enterprise’s success. 

His first years

Before coming to Dubai, Bonn worked temporarily in the Philippines at Eastwood Properties, Megaworld. Thenceforward, he decided to work on his destiny. 

“After some time, I eventually ventured to my own business. I was into supplying and distributing LPG gas in the Philippines,” he shared. 

Bonn arrived in Dubai in 2006 and sooner worked as a sales and business developer in a prestigious company in the city. Upon excelling in his work, he becomes a safety officer and safety manager for DEWA. 

According to Bonn, while working from the company he was affiliated with, he never stops learning things from its operations to the management. He believed that his accumulated learnings could be part of his dream business. 

He added that “I learned a lot from my previous firm, and it includes the ways to run a company. Those observations help me so much to start up and open a business here in Dubai.” 

Never stop learning

For Bonn, starting Shokudo Restaurant was not that easy; he faced a lot of challenges, and the struggles were always part of generating a new endeavor. Although skirmishes were on their way that time, he stayed positive. 

“I believe that we all have our ups and downs, and it is part of growing up. We should never stop learning. These lessons are worth working for, because they can result in growth and progress,” he ended. 

In pursuit of his dreams, he patiently waited for the right time and reminisced to learn and turn his dreams into reality. Learning through action is observed to a man of great mindset like Bonn Lozano.

Aparna Bajpai: CEO, Beauty Queen, and Grand Ambassadress turns advocate of women empowerment

Aparna means goddess of strength, beauty, wealth, and health. This beautiful woman is a mother, wife, philanthropist, and businesswoman. Her skills and desires towards empowerment are her drives to achieve victory. 

An Indian national, Aparna Bajpai, created her destiny at a young age as she moved towards married life. Although committed to family life, the situation never stopped her from reaching the top of her dreams. 

This woman of beauty was hailed Mrs. India Globe-UAE and a Grand Ambassador of Mrs. India Globe. She is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of BeingShe, which serves women worldwide, and empowers them on the road to greatness. 

Before coming to Dubai, Aparna worked in London and studied master’s degree. After serving as a professional in London, she gave up her professional life to look after her daughter.

“I was married quite early at the age of 19 and moved to London with my husband, and I took my MBA in marketing. I worked there for eight years. And when I had my daughter, I gave up my professional life and become a busy mom for her; nurturing her, giving her the right parenting,” she said. 

Being a mother gave her drive and passion towards creating a support system for women and helping the community get the right opportunity and exposure in the world. 

Forming BeingShe

Aparna’s business ventures to female independence. Stating a business for her had never been easy; she needs to pass by the process of learning, meeting people, creating a good circle of networks, analyzing the market, and understanding the system on how it works. 

“The vision- mission of BeingShe is to create many opportunities, growth, network, and transformation, to any and every woman of the community. We want to make the largest ecosystem for women’s support,” Aparna explained. 

She also added that her company have several supports, and it include; BeingShe Universe, one of the biggest fashion shows in Dubai. BeingShe Excellence, BeingShe Club Membership, and She Talks that aims for professional growth and international networking. 

Loving Dubai

Aparna’s magical life all started in Dubai. It gave her the enchantment to continue advocating for women’s power in the workplace, daily living, and married life regardless of status, faith, and race. 

“Dubai is magical. It is a pleasure for me to be in the most beautiful city globally. It makes me feel home, safe and comfortable. Dubai is taking care of women,” she said.

Dubai Airports CEO: Hoping testing regime for travel will start to disappear pretty quickly

The Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airports Paul Griffiths has said that he is hoping that many countries would end their rules for vaccinated passengers. 

“I do expect across the world, the testing regime for travel will start to disappear pretty quickly and we’re hopeful that there will be an announcement over the next few weeks from many different places,” Griffiths said.

There are projections that Dubai airport will handle more than 57 million passengers this year, up from 29.1 million in 2021, but much lower than the 86.4 million passengers handled in 2019, the year before the influenza pandemic.

Griffiths said bookings for the next three months were among the strongest the airport had ever seen and “the outlook for the future now is particularly good.”

Dubai reinforces elimination on unlicensed massage parlors

According to the report of The Filipino Times, in the last three years, Dubai Police abolished 218 flats and arrested 2,025 individuals. 

As the police launched an awareness campaign on unlicensed massage centers, the enforces aimed to combat illegal activities in cities that can cause harm to its residents and citizens. The Dubai Economic and Tourism encouraged to call the department on 800545555, if anyone is wishing to seek of services. 

Among those who were arrested are those who are distributing cards in the street. 

UAE to provide affordable medicines to uninsured and low-income expats

The authorities will provide uninsured and low-income expats with affordable medicines in the UAE.

It has been reported that the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies and Axios have recently signed an appendix to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand the scope of the Hand in Hand initiative, which intends to provide uninsured and low-income expats with affordable medicines.

In December 2018, the MoU was signed and about 712 patients were eligible for the programme, which was extended in April to provide the patients with new medications.

Six-year-old Emirati girl was rescued from a well in Fujairah

According to the report of the National, the Ministry of Interior of United Arab Emirates (MOIUAE) uploaded a video in Twitter showing a rescuer trying to save the little girl from the narrow well. 

The little girl was brought to a nearby medical facility immediately. The emergency medical worker take care of the girl after was rescued from the well. 

“I thank the Civil Defence Centre in Dibba Al Fujairah and the work team for the quick response,” Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior said.

The girl and her parents were also visited by Sheikh Saif at the hospital.

Woman in the UAE is sentenced to six months in jail after hurling racist slurs

For hurling racist slurs at a security guard in Al Nahda, a 45-year-old Arab woman was sentenced to six months in prison.

According to the report of the Filipino Times,  the woman made anti-religious remarks against the guard. The woman insulted the religion and uttered racist language against the victim.  The suspect approached the guard on-duty and asked him to break down the door of a room while he was having his morning prayers. The guard denied the request of the lady. After a few minutes, the suspect pushed and hit the guard in the head. 

She confessed to her crime and was referred to public prosecution.

‘Real Life Iron Man’ takes to Dubai skies inviting crowds to Museum of the Future

 Real life “Iron Man”, Richard Browning, British inventor of the gravity-defying ‘Jet Suit’ has been spotted in Dubai, performing spectacular aerial stunts as he gives away exclusive tickets to crowds to celebrate the opening of the Museum of the Future – billed as the most beautiful building in the world.

Giving visitors a glimpse of the future, the dare-devil inventor, who holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest flight in a body-controlled jet suit travelling at speeds of 85mph (135 km/h) in November 2019, thrilled crowds when he was spotted flying in Dubai to celebrate the opening of the historic scientific landmark.

Onlookers were treated to a spectacle, as ‘invitations from the future’ were handed out, providing people with exclusive access to the iconic Museum, which opens on Tuesday, 22nd February 2022. Crowds were amazed when they spotted the ‘flying jet man’ in the sky as lucky onlookers were presented with the special invitations, which celebrated the opening in a bold, creative and innovative way.

Like Richard Browning’s Jet Suit invention, which also embodies the same vision for technological advancement, the Museum is set to become a hub for scientific talents at regional and world levels. Becoming a global gateway to the future, with its design and latest innovations, the Museum of the Future is also set to position Dubai as a testbed for emerging technologies and an exploration base for talents, inventors and creative professionals from all over the world to unravel the greatest challenges that will shape the future of humanity.

The pillarless iconic landmark, stands at 77 metres tall, and covers 30,000 square metres, featuring a stainless-steel façade being illuminated by 14,000 metres of Arabic calligraphy designed by the Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej. This makes it the only building in the world that has a surface covered entirely in calligraphy art.

The building, which has also been classified as one of the most architecturally creative in the world, has a hollow middle, forming a human ‘eye’ representing the future we see tomorrow. Inside, visitors will be able to see the latest technologies of virtual and augmented reality, big data analysis, artificial intelligence and human machine interaction.

The Museum of the Future will open permanently from 22nd February 2022 in Dubai and is set to connect thinkers from around the world through highlighting the most important and latest scientific discoveries – proving the sky’s the limit to what humanity can collectively achieve.

Cloudy weather will cause temperatures to rise in UAE over the next few days

UAE residents can expect cloudy weather with an increase in temperatures during 

the coming days, according to forecasters.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) reported that Sunday would be humid with an

increase of temperature in general. 

Although, the residents can expect cloudy weather during the coming days with an increase in temperature as well. 

Weekdays forecast

Monday- Overcome coastal and Northern areas will experience dusty and partly cloudy weather in general with a decrease in temperature. 

Tuesday- Low clouds will appear over some mountainous areas. It would be partly cloudy in general and the country will experience light rains with decrease in temperature. 

Wednesday- Humid with a chance of fog is expected on this day with fair to partly cloudy with an increase in temperatures. 

Thursday-  Fog and mist formation by morning over the coastal and fair to partly cloudy with another increase in temperature.

Storms across Europe have killed at least a dozen people

 Storms tore across Europe on Friday and Saturday, leading to at least a dozen deaths and leaving tens of thousands without power across the continent.

“Several deaths were reported in Germany, the Netherlands, Britain and Ireland due to three cyclones, named Zeynap, Dudley and Eunice,” German news agency (dpa) reported.

Thousands of homes were left without power in Britain, where Storm Eunice brought strong winds, heavy rainfall and caused millions of pounds worth of damage. Three people died.

Strong winds are also forecast in Britain for the coming days and are expected to disrupt travel, power supplies and recovery efforts.

Four people died in the Netherlands due to the storm, with three hit by falling trees and the fourth killed in a car accident.

At least three people died in Germany due to storm Zeynep. The fire brigade was called out thousands of times nationwide due to trees that were blown over, damage to buildings and objects flying around in the winds.

Insurers in Germany estimated the damage at more than €900 million ($1 billion).

There were numerous interruptions to rail travel nationwide, with delays on some lines expected to last until Monday.

Four people in Poland died in the storm, while at least one more was injured. The Polish fire brigade was called out to around 13,000 incidents overnight due to Zeynep, according to a spokesperson.

Numerous trees blocked roads and roofs were blown off. A large sheet of metal was torn from the National Museum in Szczecin. Tens of thousands of households were left without electricity, especially in the Western Pomerania region.

In the Czech Republic, around 26,000 households were left without electricity and Prague’s city administration called on people not to venture into parks or forests for the time being.
