Part of the sustainability projects of the emirates, Ajman is planning to ban plastic bags starting 2023.
It is accustomed that every May 16, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department prohibits the usage of plastic bags.
According to Engineer Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, the executive director of Public Health and Environmental Sector, in 2022, the projects reached 62 per cent commitment rate, as 300 facilities were inspected and over 200,000 plastic bags were unused. Thus, 39,500kg were reduced from waste.
“All solutions will be presented to reduce the use of plastic bags,” he said.
