Philippine President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has announced his attendance to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
The UAE will host the event, which will take place from November 30 to December 12, 2023, and will bring states together to address global climate concerns and review progress towards the Paris Agreement targets.
The focus of COP28 will be on maintaining the 1.5°C objective and encouraging sustainable agriculture. As the event’s host, the UAE hopes to advance carbon reduction and energy security measures, particularly in climate-vulnerable countries.
President Marcos Jr. is popular among Filipinos in the UAE, as seen by his high support in the 2022 overseas absentee balloting.
