This is an increase from the previous year’s 6,000 weddings. The court has become a popular choice for locals and visitors seeking legal remedies for family concerns, including non-Sharia law services such as civil marriages, custody disputes, divorce cases, and inheritance conflicts.
Since the marriage statute was implemented in 2021, the court has received over 16,300 requests. Couples can get married in a few of weeks thanks to the court’s online application process, which costs AED300. Couples can marry within 24 hours thanks to a fast service launched in August.
The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court, which was founded in 2021 to handle non-Sharia disputes, has seen high demand. Through its sophisticated systems, the court aspires to provide speedy justice, issuing civil divorce judgements in just 11 days. The court also facilitates joint and equal custody of children following divorce and provides services for expats such as registering civil wills and addressing civil inheritance matters.
