The Human Rights Department (HRD) of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has acknowledged that media reports about the expulsion of some African employees in the UAE are untrue. These allegations are a repeat of previously disproven claims.
According to Saeed Al Hebsi, the director of HRD, the report issued by Impact International for Human Rights Policy includes repeated charges made by Impact International in 2021 that the ministry disputed.
He stated that they were erroneous since the measures taken in terms of the arrest and deportation of a restricted number of workers were carried out as part of legal proceedings and that all workers, without exception, are bound by recorded legal labor contracts that guarantee their rights.
Al Hebsi reiterated the UAE’s commitment to complete openness in dealing with these concerns and urged the media to resort to official remarks by appropriate UAE agencies on the subject.
