The legendary Anthony Gonzalez will take to the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable night of electronic entertainment
Grammy-nominated electronica icons M83 have announced a long-awaited performance at Dubai Opera on June 15, 2023. Fans can expect an unforgettable night with some of the artists’ most beloved tracks, including “Midnight City,” “Wait,” and “Reunion,” being played live on stage.Â
M83 is the musical vision of French maverick and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Gonzalez. Gonzalez got into music after a leg injury in his teens kept him from playing football professionally. After receiving his first guitar, Gonzalez and his friend, Nicolas Fromageau, formed their first band: My Violent Wish. The group recorded their first demo album and signed a contract with “Gooom Records,” which led to the birth of M83.
In 2003, M83’s second album, “Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghost,” ushered in a new era in French music. The duo won critical acclaim and were praised for their unique and fresh sound in the electronica genre. By combining synth-pop melodies and shoegaze, a subgenre of indie and alternative rock, M83 has turned synthesizers that sound cheap into instruments that make people feel nostalgic and emotional.
As the sole constant member of M83, Gonzalez continued producing core albums for M83—often solo—and supported the likes of Kings of Leon, The Killers, and Depeche Mode on their tours. The band saw worldwide success following the release of its platinum-selling record, “Hurry Up We’re Dreaming,” and has sold out tours at the Hollywood Bowl and Brixton Academy, among others.
M83 has influenced generations of artists, soundtracked major films such as Tom Cruise’s “Oblivion” and Gilles Marchand’s “Black Heaven,” and provided a musical backdrop in front of which listeners have experienced life’s greatest triumphs and crushing defeats.
