Emirates Red Crescent inaugurates Al Naqa’a housing project in Syria to Aid earthquake-affected families

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has formally started the Al Naqa’a housing project in Syria’s Latakia Governorate, consisting of 47 prefabricated apartments.

The project was launched as part of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s humanitarian efforts to aid Syrian families impacted by an earthquake in February 2023.

Acting ERC Secretary General Hamoud Al Junaibi emphasised that the project’s launch coincided with World Humanitarian Day, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to assisting nations affected by natural catastrophes. The housing units, which can accommodate six family members, were built using high-quality materials and solar power for energy. Each unit has two bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen and a bathroom.

The Al Naqa’a project is expected to help households affected by the earthquake. Various officials from the UAE Embassy, the ERC, and Syrian government attended the opening event.
