Emirates carried 4.45 million passengers between the two destinations last year.
According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data in India, Emirates is the largest foreign airline for outbound and inbound international traffic to and from India.
The report said that Emirates is also the third-largest carrier if all India’s domestic carriers are included for statistical purpose.
Sarhan said that even if there are more airlines in India, and Emirates operates more flights from India; demand will remain strong. Operating 334 weekly flights between Dubai and India, Emirates carried 4.45 million passengers between the two destinations last year.
He said the demand is robust for an expanded bilateral air services agreement. He added that Emirates already has interline agreements with almost all Indian carriers.
