The canteens of both public and private educational institutions in Dubai have been the subject of more than 350 field inspections by the Dubai Municipality. The inspections intended to confirm conformity to the Emirate’s food safety requirements as well as compliance with safety and health precautions.
These routine inspections concentrate on a number of things, such as how food should be stored, how to prepare and preserve food at the right temperatures, and how to thoroughly clean produce before serving.
The Municipality further evaluated the canteens for their adherence to health criteria, norms of personal and public sanitation, and the sale of authorised, safe, and nutrient-dense food products.
The campaign made sure that personnel received training in safety and hygiene standards with a focus on student health and food safety, and permits were given to food providers.
Inspections of more than 500 educational and commercial establishments around Dubai were conducted as part of the larger programme, “Our schools are healthy and safe,” launched by Dubai Municipality, with a focus on the trade in school supplies.
This continuing work seeks to be ready for the new school year and keep educational institutions all throughout the city at the highest levels of public health and safety.
