Dubai has completed the first phase of its drone delivery project, known as ‘Dubai Horizons,’ in collaboration with Dubai Municipality and Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
The project, evaluated at Dubai Silicon Oasis, focused on planning routes in low-altitude airspace and identifying specific landing zones for drones. The initiative aims to enhance Dubai’s readiness for drone usage, improve air navigation security and safety standards, and stimulate investment in the logistics sector.
As part of the project, Dubai Municipality will provide digital geospatial twin databases, including 3D maps and advanced geospatial solutions. The goal is to establish Dubai as a global hub for the drone industry, with expectations of reducing parcel delivery times through drone transportation.
Companies like Aramex and Dronamics anticipate using cargo drones for quicker and more efficient deliveries in the near future.
