Dubai Customs prevents large-scale drug smuggling attempt valued at AED 6.2 Million

A significant drug smuggling operation through air cargo was successfully foiled by Dubai Customs’ Intelligence Department, prohibiting the trafficking of 200,000 banned drugs and tablets worth about AED 6.2 million.

This accomplishment fits with Dubai Customs’ overall plan to safeguard the neighbourhood from security risks and preserve the UAE’s standing as a safe place to conduct business.

When suspected shipments from an Asian nation were examined, it was discovered that the first cargo had 460 kilogrammes of concealed narcotics and banned medications, while the second shipment contained 520 kilogrammes of Tramadol.

The General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics of the Dubai Police received the confiscated items and those involved.

Director-General of Dubai Customs Ahmed Mahboob Musabih lauded the division’s committed efforts to protect national security and preserve Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in the fight against drugs and illegal substances.
