The Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) strategic projects and initiatives have been thoroughly reviewed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, with the goal of improving Dubai’s infrastructure for roads and transport systems.
He learnt about the RTA’s intentions to extend the Intelligent Traffic Systems to support Dubai’s ambition to become the world’s smartest city during his visit to the Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Centre in Al Barsha, one of the biggest and most cutting-edge traffic control centres.
To deliver cutting-edge traffic solutions, the centre makes use of cutting-edge technology including artificial intelligence, big data, internet of things, and sophisticated communication systems.
The centre has greatly improved Dubai’s traffic management since it opened in 2020, lowering travel times, enhancing incident monitoring, and quickening reaction times. Sheikh Hamdan was also given a briefing on Dubai’s traffic safety regulations, expansion of the city’s road network, and amenities for pedestrians and cyclists.
Due to major improvements in traffic safety, the city is currently considered to be among the safest in the world. The visit also included discussions on how to reduce traffic congestion and an evaluation of Dubai’s performance in terms of global traffic indices.
