Research last week has found a new COVID-19 variant called ‘Centauraus.’ It is another sub-variant of Omicron from India. It is said that the BA.2.75 variant is much more active and much have a higher transmission rate than the current virus.
Centaurus is a new sub-variant detected for the first time in India in June, and it was named by the virologist Tom Peacock as Centaurus on June 30.
According to the chief scientist of the World Health Organization, the mutations of this variant allow access to the organism’s healthy cells, which results in a greater capacity of the virus to invade the body.
Most cases of this new variant have been recorded in India, Germany, Australia, Canada, the United States, Japan, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
It has similar signs as omicron variants- fatigue, fever, headache, cough, runny nose, loss of taste and smell, vomiting, and diarrhoea.
