“My interest in beauty started at a very young age as I was somewhat a beauty junkie wanting to try new products every week,” Fatma reflects, smiling. Her fascination with beauty products paved the way for a degree in marketing and brand management from the University of Edinburgh. “Understanding how a global brand is made was a pivotal moment for me,” she adds.
Returning to her beloved hometown, Dubai, after her studies, Fatma joined L’OREAL UAE, where she honed her expertise in skincare, haircare, and beauty. “Developing localized products for the Middle Eastern region was an incredible learning experience,” she notes. Her crowning achievement during this stint was the successful launch of Garnier Ultra Doux, a leading haircare brand in the region.
After making her mark in the Middle East, Fatma set her sights on London, where she joined GOLD COLLAGEN, a pioneering collagen manufacturer. With over 13 years of experience, the company was the perfect canvas for her creativity and marketing prowess. Today, she leads the marketing teams for the UK and international markets.
Fatma’s early years at Ittihad private school in Mamzar set the stage for her love of math and its application in product development. “The formulations and ingredients ratios always fascinated me. It has played a major role in who I am today,” she muses.
A transformative experience in Peru, teaching English and caring for underprivileged children, left an indelible mark on Fatma. “Our needs as human beings are basic,” she reflects. “No matter how different we are, one thing that brings us all together is being kind.”
“For me, balance comes when you love what you do,” she asserts. “Work is no longer a job but a part of your life.” Through practices like meditation and early mornings dedicated to personal pursuits, Fatma stays grounded and focused on what truly matters.
“Dubai is my home,” Fatma declares proudly. She reflects on the rapid transformation of the city, from close-knit communities to a bustling metropolis welcoming people from over 250 countries. “It makes me proud to call it home.”
