The sighting of the Suhail star signifies the conclusion of summer and the onset of cooler temperatures. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, revealed that the Suhail season began on August 15th and will be visible at dawn starting August 24th in the Arabian Peninsula’s center.
Over the next weeks, this transition will bring about milder weather and a revival of agricultural activities. Suhail, also known as the “Star of Yemen,” aligns with the Durur calendar, which divides the year into hundred-day phases.
The arrival of Suhail marks the Safriyah season, lasting about 40 days, with unsettled air signaling the shift to autumn. The rise of Suhail is accompanied by gentle “Habayib Suhail” winds that soothe the environment.
As Suhail graces the sky, it marks the start of the agricultural season, allowing farmers to sow seeds for a fruitful harvest.
In Arab tradition, the rising of Suhail is celebrated as the end of scorching summer and the beginning of a season of growth and abundance.
