After the slapping incident of Hollywood actor Will Smith to comedian Chris Rock, the Academy banned Smith from attending the Oscars for 10 years.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences said that Smith will not be permitted to attend any other events held by Hollywood’s top film group over the next decade.
According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Smith will not be permitted to attend the most prestigious event in Hollywood held by the Academy over the next decade.
Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said in a letter: “The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programmes, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.”
Smith responded, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”
