As of May 16, 2022, the Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) will discontinue its separate Emirates ID issuance and renewal services, except for those for Dubai.
The authority clarified the program that the unified form services can be used in applications for issuance or renewal of residency. It is also been announced that separate residency services (issue/renewal) will only be available for those who are currently have a separate ID request in process.
Foreigners living in the UAE can now prove their residency by using the Emirates ID card they are issued.
Furthermore, the authority advised that its smart application enables the user to retrieve an electronic copy of the identity card upon request, thus supporting the flexibility of use.
