The International Driving Permit (IDP), according to the UAE Digital government, may be used as an identification card and is utilized to drive automobiles in other nations because it is a widely accepted document.
When traffic accident occurs while driving overseas, the insurance will only be valid if there is an IDP. On the otherside, if there is no IDP, the motorist must pay the expenses in the accident, as per the Government.
The IDP is a renewable document and it is valid for a year. In order to obtain this document in UAE, you need an Emirati ID, passport, valid residency visa, a copy of a valid driving licence issued by the UAE and two personal photos.
Emirates Automobile and Tourism Club portal, Emirates Post offices, or Dnata and RTA offices on Sheikh Zayed Road can issue this document electronically. The document is also available at the club’s branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, and the Western region, or through the Ministry of Interior App.
