UAE Cabinet approves extension of Eid holiday for one week, beginning Saturday, April 30 through Friday, May 6.
It applies to all federal entities and ministries in the UAE. The regular work schedule will resume on Monday, May 9. Therefore, all employees in ministries and federal entities will have a 9-day holiday period.
Long weekend for private section
On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has declared that the time from 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal 1443 will be a paid holiday for all workers in the private sector.
If Ramadan lasts 30 days, Eid will fall on Monday, May 2. Employees in the UAE will get a five-day weekend that includes April 30, May 1, May 2, May 3 and May 4 (Saturday- Wednesday)
According to the lunar calendar, Eid Al Fitr will occur on Sunday, May 1 (Shawwal 1), and residents will have a four-day long weekend from Saturday, April 30 to Tuesday, May 3.
