The Butterfly Gardens at Al Qana in Abu Dhabi will host over 2,000 butterflies

A new Butterfly Gardens project at Al Qana in Abu Dhabi is set to house over 2,000 butterflies, representing more than 40 species, and will open next year.

Located adjacent to the National Aquarium, the climate-controlled indoor facility will feature three distinct zones: Asia, the Americas, and Eden Cafe. Visitors will be able to witness butterflies and insect species in a natural habitat, track the live development of pupa, and experience a starlight night setting.

The manicured zones will showcase lush tropical gardens inspired by the unique ecosystems of Asia, Central, and South America. The Eden Cafe will offer a serene setting with a cascading waterfall, koi pond, and white peacocks, providing guests the opportunity to have high tea with butterflies.

The facility aims to engage visitors of all ages in learning about butterflies, insect species, and essential pollinators like bees, with plans for school field trips and photography classes.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2024, with an expected opening in the same year, operating from 10 am to 10 pm daily.
