The Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued Law No. 17 of 2023 regarding the emblem of Dubai. This law mandates that Dubai must have its own unique emblem, reflecting its values and principles. The emblem is considered the property of the emirate and is protected by this law.
The emblem can be used in government facilities, documents, websites, and events. Private entities may also use it, but only with prior approval from the Dubai Ruler or his representative. Misuse of the emblem can result in penalties, including imprisonment for three to five years and fines ranging from AED100,000 to AED500,000.
Individuals, except for authorized entities, must stop using the emblem within 30 days of this law coming into effect unless they have obtained prior approval. The Chairman of Dubai’s Ruler Court will issue the necessary decisions to enforce this law. Any conflicting legislation is invalidated, and this law is effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
