Two UAE expats scoop $1 Million in Dubai Duty Free Draw

Two expatriates have struck gold, winning $1 million apiece in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire weekly draw, held at Dubai International Airport.

Among the fortunate winners is Foysal Hossain, a 32-year-old Bangladeshi businessman based in Sharjah. Having spent 13 years in the UAE and managing a supermarket and quad bike rental shop, Hossain’s consistency in participating in promotional draws over two years paid off. Overjoyed by the news, Hossain exclaimed, “What great news, thank you so much Dubai Duty Free.” Remarkably, he becomes only the second Bangladeshi to claim the $1 million prize since the promotion’s inception in 1999.

Ratheesh KR, an Indian national living in Dubai, joins the ranks of millionaires. He secured his ticket on August 4 while on his way to Thiruvananthapuram. Initial attempts to contact him after the announcement were without success.

The jubilation extended beyond the millionaire revelations into the Finest Surprise draw, where several individuals drove away with coveted vehicles.

Maher Al Aghbar, a 63-year-old Canadian residing in Dubai, triumphantly earned a Mercedes Benz S500 car, while Atif Zubair, a 47-year-old Pakistani hailing from Sharjah, clinched a BMW 740i M Sport car. Ecstatic Zubair shared, “I can’t believe that I won this early with my first ever ticket. I will continue participating to win more.”

In the motorcycle category, 63-year-old Iranian Khorrami Serrigani secured an Indian Chief Dark Horse, and 51-year-old Sri Lankan Sharon Meynert rode away with a BMW R 1250 R motorbike. Meynert, a dedicated participant for a decade, expressed, “Finally, my perseverance has paid off. Thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free.”
