QE2 Floating Hotel in Dubai temporarily closes due to unpredicted power outage

Dubai’s renowned Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel, famous for its unique floating design, has temporarily closed its doors due to an unforeseen and unparalleled power outage caused by an unexpected weather event on August 5. The heavy rain and strong winds that lashed the city led to widespread power cuts, forcing the closure of the hotel since August 6.

The management of QE2, docked at Dubai’s Port Rashid, issued an advisory to guests, explaining the situation and revealing that the closure is expected to last until August 16. The adverse weather conditions impacted the hotel’s entire operation, including restaurants and activities, which will remain unavailable during this period.

Despite the setback, the dedicated team is diligently working to restore the hotel’s systems to full functionality. However, the exact timeline for resolution remains uncertain. The weather event, which also brought hail, disrupted normalcy in Dubai, causing damage to trees and infrastructure along roads. This unpredictable weather pattern persisted throughout the country, with rain and hail affecting five emirates on Friday.

Stay tuned for updates on the QE2’s grand reopening, and let’s hope for a swift recovery from this exceptional circumstance.
