The United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently saw heavy downpours in many sections of the nation, heralding the start of the summer rainy season. According to a top expert from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the rains are predicted to persist throughout June, following the regular weather pattern. The NCM also stated that cloud seeding activities will be conducted to increase rainfall in the region.
While July showers may appear unexpected to some, the UAE sees monsoon low pressure from India throughout this season, resulting in periodic rainfall. This weather event occurs naturally throughout the nation and contributes to general climatic trends.
Residents witnessed heavy rain and high gusts while driving, according to videos published on social media networks. The eastern area, particularly the highlands, is predicted to be hit the worst by convective clouds, resulting in rain. These downpours are caused by climate change and can have a wide range of consequences for the environment, agriculture, and total water supplies in the UAE.
Throughout the summer, the UAE will continue to seed clouds in attempt to enhance rainfall and address water scarcity issues. The technique of dispersing substances into clouds in order to promote precipitation is known as cloud seeding. This initiative seeks to maximize the country’s water resources while limiting the consequences of water shortages during the dry season.
